Magazine Articles

I started writing for motorcycle magazines in 1997 and the opportunity to write my first article came about in the form of a letter-to-the-editor for Hot Bike magazine. I had read a story about ignition timing that had some problems. The story was mixed up and difficult to follow, but its worst fault was the information it contained. With over twenty years of experience in the automotive aftermarket it was clear to me that the author simply didn’t understand how a simple, 12-volt ignition system operated.

This inspired me to write to the editor and I started out complaining about the disservice that the magazine was inflicting on its readers. I ended up not sending that letter to the editor but took a different approach by rewriting the article. I sent it to the magazine figuring that I would never hear back from them.

A few weeks later I got a call from the editor and he gave me my first assignment—a tech article about starters. I still contribute to several magazine today including: Motorcycle Consumer News, RoadBike and Dealer News. Here are a couple of examples of stories that I have written. I’ll add more in the future, enjoy.
